Interesting comments here, but everybody is entitled to their own opinion and to voice them whether as their own name or an AKA, I think the greenkeepers have done a great job, this year, Johnny Miller I'm in your corner, I always seem to be repairing other's pitchmarks as well, really annoying. With reference to the course management, let's leave the people concerned to get on with it, and if they take up some of our comments then great.

Some interesting points in this thread however some people need to realise Tynemouth g.c is in the north east of England, not Florida. We have nor the climate or type of grass to have a course that is visually appealing as some American courses nor will we ever spin the ball back 20 yds on our greens ( unless you hit it like disco!).
I still believe the new bunker needs looked at on the first especially when the new tee comes into play. Possibly remove this or the mound to left?
Please can we have White paint on inside of the hole. This sort of thing is what brings visitors back or even makes them join
My other two suggestions cost nothing.
Can we please grow the semi rough next year. Not long enough to lose balls but to add definition to fairways and penalise stray tee shots
The other is to is to improve slow play. Let people through.

Sand in bunkers, level grass on tee boxes, short grass on greens and no weeds. (Common theme seems to be quite simple requests that all revert back to those responsible for course maintenance...) Maybe we should offer Alan Titchmarsh complimentary membership!

James
Theres a big difference between ''Blindly plodding along and not asking any questions'' and clearly slating the course and greenstaff at every opportunity!

Extend the season to the end of October, have competitions every Saturday and extra comps on a Sunday.Anyone who works on a Saturday must have difficulty keeping their handicap active.

Sand in the bunkers is a must ,otherwise whats the point in having them? I dont mind the bunker on the first . Its a fairway bunker and not exactly hard to get out of ! The tee box on the 7th must be replaced with grass...its not a hard job! Or move it to the grass behind the tee and make the hole longer. The greens are getting better and will take time (i've played on far worse on other courses). Overall a c+ for the year...could do better ......

Agree there has to be a balanced discussion, I doubt many (other than the lucky juniors with no work commitments!) have played more golf this year than myself so I do feel entitled to an opinion but the objective for me is to stay at Tynemouth and play as good a course as we can. More open discussion and interaction with the committee would be a great start... Perhaps a bi-monthly open evening?
Looking forward to some fine weather this weekend at last!
...and I totally agree with Lazza that the season could be extended, we always get some OK days in late September early October it seems nowadays and really, I'd say the switch to winter rules/conditions is a weather thing not a date thing. There are also plenty of dates in the calendar where we could throw in medals. They cost nothing to run really...

"nor will we ever spin the ball back 20 yds on our greens ( unless you hit it like disco!). " thanks kev haha.
anyway, as a 'lucky junior' i have had a lot of games this year at tynemouth and other courses in the area and this year im more proud than ever to be a member at tynemouth. the course has got soooo much better over the past 3-4 years and the greens have been top quality over the last month / 6weeks. i have also heard about how the greens are supposed to improve further from committie members and it all sounds very positive.
to all the haters of the new bunker on the 1st, grow up! either lay up or hit it over, its not rocket science, only golf :-) why not make the course more challenging? extend the 4th 40yds etc. it will improve the course and by doing tht more people will join.
disco out......

Is it true we have run out of money and that the 1st tee box is being completed by apprentices from a local builder 'for experience'? If thats the case then this thread is largely redundant!
