Hello Everybody,
I intend to put a tip on the website each month. As the quickest way to save shots off your score is improving short game i am going to work back from the green to the tee.
This months tip will be on putting.
Good mechanics in putting does help consistency however i think nearly everybody could improve their putting without changing their technique. Putting a ball along the ground is a relatively simple skill in golfing terms and most peoples strokes can achieve this. One of the most common mistakes i see among golfers is that they get too focused on their putting stroke on the course. In my opinion if you become more target focused you will improve your putting.
When taking your practice swing for a putt, look at the target as you swing the putter back and forward. Try to imagine the speed that the ball will role and the breaks it will take. When you have a clear vision of how the ball will role in your 'minds eye` place the putter behind the ball, then take one last look at the target and let the putt go.
Stick with this system and you will improve your distance control.
Next months tip will be on short putts.

March
This months tip will be on short putts.
Firstly when reading the line of a short putt always go with your first impression of the line, and most importantly never change your mind. It is vital to be decisive on short putts because second guessing yourself on the line will lead to indecision and a uncommitted stroke.
Secondly, when taking your aim try to pick out a very small target i.e. a piece of dirt on the cup or a blade of grass. Picking a small target helps you make a more positive stroke.
Lastly only putt when you feel confident you are going to hole putt.
These three tips will make you more decisive and positive with your short putts which is the secret to holing more of them.
